No Red Lights: Hockey: Tampa Bay Turn Around - Goalie News And Instruction By Roxanne Gaudiel

Tampa Bay Turn Around

As soon as I heard the good news, I jumped all over this trade: Dwayne Roloson's fantasy value has just skyrocketed. Roloson has always been a solid goaltender with the unfortunate circumstance of being on a less-than-offensive team. Except for maybe his years in Edmonton, he's been on the Wild (and had some exceptions years) and the Islanders; two teams that are historically known for being anything but offensive. The help up front as well as some other daring and opportunistic moves by GM Yzerman (love that guy - he also got Marc Bergeron from Montreal) will definitely improve Roli's fantasy stats. He's always been able to steal a few games, and now he'll get some help from an offensive team.

The only question is the goalie rotation in Tampa Bay. In my opinion, this is a no-brainer. The Lightning are looking to make a serious Cup run this year, and they will get that on the back of a veteran. The younger goalies do not carry the confidence that a seasoned veteran can provide. But they are still looking to develop their younger goalies. Look for Ellis and Smith to be rotated in and out of backup positions, although my bet is that Tampa sticks with Ellis. The injury prone Smith seems to be damaged goods.
